Capitol Reef NP Suburbs - The Dark Spire

The hunt for The Dark Spire began on the road along Highway 24, which offered no clues.  It was all just endless desert and a sky that stretched forever. Finding Dark Spire wasn’t about signs it was all about following your GPS.

With Nora and Scout by our side, we followed the footprints, weaving through sandstone formations and open desert. The four-mile trek felt like stepping into another world n-  silent, vast, and untouched. The further we hiked, the more the landscape changed, like a place that time had forgotten.

Then, rising in the distance, The Dark Spire came into view:  a tall, skinny, almost impossibly elegant rock formation, stood like a lone guardian of this alien terrain. If we hadn't known better, we would have thought we had officially left Earth. Alien world, here we are! 

Since we were totally alone in this magnificent location we took the opportunity to do both aerial and land photography.  We hope you enjoy!
