Kanarra Falls, UT

šŸŒµšŸ“Southern Utah: Kanarraville

Ā

Kanarra Falls?! It's like walking into a dream, one made of pink canyon walls, hidden waterfalls, and icy water that dares you to be brave.Ā

Ā

Let's Get the Basics Out of the Way:

  • Where? Just outside the little town of Kanarraville, Utah, tucked between Zion and Cedar City.
  • Permit? Yes! This is a paid hike, only 150 hikers are allowed per day to preserve the canyon.
  • $15 per person (includes parking). Ā Reserve online in advance.
  • Length? Around 4.4 miles round-trip, Ā moderate difficulty.
  • Time? Give yourself 3-4 hours, depending on how long you play in the waterfalls.
  • The Hike: A Visual Journey!

We hit the trail in May, a perfect time. Not too hot, not too crowded.Ā  But let me tell you... the water? ICE COLD. ā„ļøšŸ„¶Ā  The trail begins like any scenic Utah hike: red dirt, sagebrush, and mountain views. But soon, it transforms.Ā  You enter a narrow slot canyon, where sculpted sandstone walls rise like cathedral columns above your head. The light bounces in golden pinks and soft oranges: it's glowing. Ā Magical.Ā  Then comes the real adventure...You step into the creek. Ā No bridges. No shortcuts.Ā  The water rushes around your ankles... then your calves...It's cold! 🄶

Ā

The Main Event: Kanarra Falls'

Ā

Eventually, you reach the first waterfall, a stunning cascade pouring down smooth rock, framed by rose-colored canyon walls.Ā  A metal staircase, bolted beside the fall, dares you to climb higher.

Ā

When you reach the top...WOW.Ā  A hidden world opens up.Ā  Another fall. Pink walls soaring above. Water gliding down like liquid silk. It's peaceful. Absolutely breathtaking.

Ā

A Quick Note (That Broke Our Hearts):Ā  Sadly, no dogs are allowed on this trail.Ā  We had to leave Nora and Scout behind for this one!

Ā

Final Thoughts:

  • This trail is a bucket list hike for anyone visiting Southern Utah.
  • It's short, but bold. Beautiful, but wild. Cold, but unforgettable.
  • So lace up your water shoes, pack light, and don't forget your sense of wonder and of course,Ā  your camera!

See you on the next adventure!

Ā

Love,

The Team
